International Trained PharmD (ITPD) Scholarship Application

International Pharmacy Educator Scholarship
The International Pharmacy Educator Scholarship has been established to increase patient-centered pharmacy practice in international settings.  Do your career goals include work as a pharmacy educator?  Would you benefit from mentorship and hands-on exposure to clinical practice and leadership skills?  If so, you should apply for this $2,500 scholarship!
Details and Criteria:
  • Applicants must be currently applying to the ITPD Program
  • Admissions applications are found HERE
  • Applicant must possess strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in patient-centered pharmacy practice
  • Scholarship will be applied to ITPD tuition during the 2023-2024 academic year
Preference given to those that provide education as:
  • University, school or college of pharmacy faculty
  • Residency director
  • Clinical coordinator
  • Clinicians in the position to mentor others
Deadline to apply for the scholarship is October 1, 2023.  Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Cover letter (letter of intent, 1 page limit) – The cover letter should express your interest in educating others in patient-centered pharmacy practice and showcasing your current pharmacy education activities and future goals to establish innovative educational practices. The cover letter will be uploaded to your to your application.

Two letters of recommendation from Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice Faculty or Adjoint Clinical Pharmacy Faculty sent from a verifiable personal or professional email address.  Letters of recommendation will be submitted via email (Pharmacy.Online@cuanschutz.edu). There is no specific form for recommenders to complete. A personal letter is acceptable but it should include their name and contact information as well as your name in the letter.

A committee of pharmacy educators will review the applications and provide feedback to the school’s scholarship committee, which will make the final decisions.

Scholarship applicants must be in the process of applying to the International Trained PharmD (ITPD) Program. In order to receive the scholarship you must be admitted and enrolled in the ITPD program. The scholarship application may be submitted while your ITPD application for admission is under review.

Work Experience
The International Pharmacy Educator Scholarship has been established to increase patient-centered pharmacy practice in settings outside the United States. Current employment is not required, but preference is given to scholarship applicants who hold a faculty position at a pharmacy school, are a residency coordinator, a clinical coordinator or clinicians in a position to mentor others. Please note, if you are awarded the scholarship based on any of these qualifiers, you will be asked to produce documentation verifying your unique eligibility.

Your letter of intent should be no longer than one page, double spaced. You should address in your essay: your interest in educating others in patient-centered pharmacy practice settings and showcasing your current pharmacy education activities and future goals to establish innovative educational practices.

Letters of Recommendation
Request two professional letters of recommendation. Completed letters of recommendation should be emailed to Pharmacy.Online@cuanschutz.edu, referencing the applicant's last name and ITPD Scholarship. Recommenders should be clinical pharmacy/pharmacy practice faculty or adjoint clinical pharmacy faculty. Include verifiable personal or professional email addresses for both individuals in the spaces provided.
